The Technique
Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers (usually index and middle) on the same mouse button, like a drumroll. Done well it reaches 12–18 CPS — faster than jitter clicking and easier on the forearm.
How to Butterfly Click
Rest both fingertips on the button, keep your wrist loose, and alternate strikes in a fast, even rhythm. Consistency beats raw speed at first — uneven timing loses registered clicks to debounce.
Butterfly vs Jitter
Jitter uses one tensed finger vibrating (8–12 CPS); butterfly splits the work across two relaxed fingers (12–18 CPS). Many mice debounce very fast double inputs, so results vary by hardware.
